Amazon introduced a Halo fitness bracelet
Amazon has entered the wearable market the company has introduced a Halo fitness bracelet designed to track health. Although Halo is not exactly a smart bracelet, but rather a set of sensors that can be worn on the wrist.
The bracelet has a built-in accelerometer, temperature sensor, heart rate monitor, and two microphones. The gadget is also equipped with an optical sensor, LED indicator, control button, and charging connector.
The system evaluates the following parameters: sleep quality, based on which Halo gives recommendations for its improvement; body mass index with the determination of the percentage of fat in 4 photos; tone and emotionality of the voice and other experimental (psychological) parameters. The display is missing. Messages are displayed in the application.
The developers paid special attention to confidentiality. Voice recordings from the bracelet are sent to the phone for analysis, and then, as soon as the results are ready, are deleted from the device. Entries are never sent to Amazon servers.
As for body scanning, the user’s photos will be analyzed using computer vision and machine learning – according to the company, the result is twice as accurate as that offered by popular models of smart scales. According to the results of the analysis, the user will receive an individual 3D model of the body, as well as the percentage of body fat and body mass index (BMI). Battery life is about a week; recharging takes less than 90 minutes.
The Amazon Halo bracelet costs $ 100, and additional straps – $ 16 for silicone and $ 20 for fabric. The straps are waterproof. Subscription to the service of the same name will cost $ 4 per month.
