Apple terminated the Fortnite developer’s accounts

After Apple threatened to remove Epic’s developer account a few weeks ago, they have now officially taken that step. This makes updates and re-downloads of the game impossible. Apple terminated the Fortnite developer’s accounts on Friday night. So far, this only affects the account used to update Fortnite through the App Store.

Epic still has access to other developer accounts. Recently, the court ruled that Apple cannot block or delete all Epic accounts. The Unreal engine is therefore not affected at the moment and can still be developed by Epic.

For Fortnite players on iPhone and iPad, that means two important things. First, there will be no game update in the near future. Then Fortnite and other developer titles like Infinity Blade will not be able to be downloaded again.

However, if the game is already installed on an iPhone or iPad, it can still be launched at that time. Therefore, if you want to continue playing the game even if you do not have current content, you should not remove it from your smartphone or tablet. According to Apple, however, it is no longer possible to make in-app purchases.
