Apple Watch Series 6 Blood Oxygen Sensor Feature
The main new feature of the Apple Watch Series 6 is the Blood Oxygen sensor which measures the oxygen levels in blood. The new watch is equipped with a sensor on the underside of the device, which uses red and infrared light to monitor this indicator.
Low oxygen in the blood can provoke headaches as well as affect well-being. The new Apple Watch will warn the user if this figure drops significantly – in this case, the watch will also advise to ventilate the room or go for a walk. Oxygen levels will be measured constantly, even during sleep.
Apple has also said it is working with health networks across North America, including researchers at the University of California, Irvine, and the University of Toronto, to use the new feature to study the effects of COVID-19 on the human respiratory system.
