Ben Stoke’s Father has been diagnosed with brain cancer

Gerard Stokes, Ben Stoke’s father, has been diagnosed with brain cancer. That’s why Stokes withdrew from the team after England’s first Test against Pakistan, citing family reasons. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) did not give a specific reason for his withdrawal.

However, a recent interview with Stokes’ father, published in the New Zealand Herald, revealed that he was suffering from cancer. And that’s why Stokes went to New Zealand to spend time with his family.

In an interview with the Weekend Herald, Stokes said, “I haven’t slept for almost a week. I couldn’t concentrate on it (Test series) in any way. And it was the right decision to leave the team from a psychological place. ”

Stokes’ father is a former New Zealand rugby player. He suddenly fell ill during England’s Boxing Day Test against South Africa in Johannesburg. He had to be hospitalized for bleeding in the brain. After further tests in New Zealand, he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

Speaking about his father, Stokes said, “He was always strict with me. But as I got older, I realized that he was doing it for my own good. Because he knew I wanted to be a professional athlete. And when I start playing cricket, he instills that idea in me. ”
