Chadwick Boseman’s latest post is the most liked tweet
Twitter claims that the latest tweet posted by Chadwick Boseman’s account has become the most liked tweet on the social network. The post confirms the death of the actor, known for playing Black Panther in Marvel films, after a four-year battle with colorectal cancer. He was 43 years old.
“ The nicest tweet of all, ” Twitter said on its official account; there were over 7.4 million likes until Monday, August 31. The social network added: “A tribute fit for a king. #WakandaForever “, in reference to Boseman’s role as King T’Challa of Wakanda, a fictional country in Africa.
As Engadget notes, the reach of this tweet reflects the growth of the Twitter community, even under pressure from competitors like Instagram and TikTok. The previous records were set by more optimistic tweets from Barack Obama, BTS, and Ariana Grande.
Chadwick Boseman’s film career
The death was confirmed last Friday, August 28; the news surprised more than one, as the actor had not revealed to the public that he was undergoing surgery and chemotherapy treatments.
Boseman was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, the same year as Captain America: Civil War, which introduced his character. He has since starred in three other Marvel films: Black Panther, Avengers: Infinite War, and Avengers: EndGame.
The Black Panther movie grossed $ 1.3 billion in theaters: it is the greatest blockbuster film with a black director and the 12th greatest of all time. It’s also the first MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) title to win multiple Oscars, including Best Costume, Best Soundtrack, and Best Production Design.
Boseman also starred in Crime Without a Leap, Marshall: Equality, Justice, King: A Revenge Story, and Manhattan Lockdown. His latest film is Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom of Netflix, currently in post-production. In the meantime, Black Panther 2 is in development at Marvel and its release is scheduled for May 2022.
