Cyberpunk 2077 will not work on all hardware

CD Projekt RED did not provide the official hardware requirements expected by many productions. However, we have the first specific one regarding this, which means that Cyberpunk 2077 will not work on all hardware requirements. DirectX 12 is essential to play the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 and (not really) hardware requirements.

Although the hype for the game is not decreasing, and some probably even increase, so far CD Projekt RED has not shared with the players’ information about the official hardware requirements. The premiere has been postponed again, this time to November 19, but players are still looking forward to technical details. I would not be surprised if Cyberpunk 2077 forced many “pecklers” to change or even improve their equipment. In an interview with PCGamesHardware, one of the designers betrayed something from the technical side of production.

Recently, screenshots of the game launched using modern lighting and reflection technology Ray Tracing were presented. Nvidia tries to push his invention wherever possible, so the participation of the Polish game is not surprising here. We hope, however, that it will be optimised appropriately, because so far many games could “boast” huge drops, as soon as we turned on ray tracing. Besides, Cyberpunk is to support image rendering technology using AI, i.e. DLSS 2.0, which provides (as promised by Nvidia) a sharp image and many times more frames per second.

You will not run Cyberpunk 2077 on this equipment.

The developer also revealed that the game is based on DirectX version 12 libraries, so older graphics cards, as well as systems other than Windows 10 and Windows 7 SP1, will not start the game at all. As for Nvidia cards, the GTX 1000 series and newer are officially supported by DirectX 12. After all, new revelations suggest that RTX users are favoured. Let’s hope that we will receive official requirements soon.
