Match Preview:

Pakistan is anxious to follow up their professional performance in the Test series against England, which they won 2-0, with a similar performance in the ODI series. On Wednesday, the inaugural One-Day International (ODI) will be played in Abu Dhabi.

Pakistan may be overwhelming favorites in the four-match One-Day International series, but they cannot afford to take England lightly under Eoin Morgan’s leadership, who may ramp up the heat on the men in green.

Morgan, who did not make England’s Test team, is conscious of the monumental challenge before of him and will want his players to perform in the first ODI. With batsmen like as Alex Hales and Joe Root among others, they have the weaponry to defeat Pakistan.

In the bowling department, they’ll rely on spinners like Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali, who have proven to be more than capable with the ball. Pakistan captain Azhar Ali has stated that the spinners will not be allowed to settle in the ODI series and that they will be attacked because they lack expertise bowling in such circumstances.

“We’ll want to dominate with the bat, particularly the spinners, who haven’t bowled much in the subcontinent or the UAE. We’ll try to take advantage of this by putting them under pressure “Ali was reported in the Guardian as saying.

Ali could take heart from the fact that Younis Khan, a crucial batsman for Pakistan in many formats, has returned to the team and will provide much-needed stability and experience. Khan should be optimistic heading into the ODI series after looking in terrific form during the Test series when he also produced a stunning century in the second Test match.

“We warmly welcome him (Younis) to the team, and he is always willing to lend a hand with his positive attitude. We’re hoping he can do well and then continue since he’s a really fit guy. We’re hoping he continues to play as he has in the past “Ali stated.

“Younus Khan is a renowned cricketer, and his contribution to the squad has always been crucial, not only in Tests but also in one-dayers. His dedication is admirable.”

Apart from Younus, other batters such as Shoaib Malik, Ali, and others should perform well in the ODI series. Before the ODI series, both teams played one warm-up game and came out victorious. Pakistan and England, respectively, defeated Nepal and Hong Kong.
