KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi Renamed as Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium
The traditional (Khan Research Laboratory) KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi has been renamed Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium. The stadium is named after former Pakistan star pacer Shoaib Akhtar. The star, known as the Rawalpindi Express, received such an honor.
“I am humbled and honored to announce that the traditional KRL Stadium in Rawalpindi has been renamed Shoaib Akhtar Stadium,” he wrote on Twitter. I rarely get speechless, today is such a day. I have no language to thank everyone for the love and respect I have received over the years. ‘

In another tweet, Shoaib wrote, “I have always served Pakistan to the best of my ability with self-sacrifice, determination, and honesty – to uphold our flag.” I proudly wore the star on my chest. Thank you, long live Pakistan. ‘ Before KRL Stadium, the name was Dr. AQ Khan Ground.
