Microsoft Xbox acquires ZeniMax Media for the 7.5 billion US Dollars. This video game company is behind many high-profile titles like Doom and Fallout. Additionally, the game company owns Bethesda Softworks, which owns top-selling titles like The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, and Dishonored.
To be more specific, the deal includes several divisions like Bethesda Softworks, Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, ZeniMax Online Studios, Arkane, MachineGames, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Studios.
The announcement comes a week after Microsoft’s bid for the TikTok video app failed. Instead, Oracle and Walmart won the race and officially became TikTok’s technology partners. However, the acquisition of this game company will go a long way to helping the American giant is selling its Xbox console.
“ All of their great work will of course continue and grow and we look forward to empowering them, with the resources and support of Microsoft, to extend their creative visions to more gamers. ‘a new way for you,’ said Xbox Manager Phil Spencer in a blog post announcing the news.
The new Xbox and PlayStation are slated for release later in the year and this deal gives Microsoft an edge in gaming exclusivity. With the Coronavirus outbreak, gaming has seen a dramatic recovery in 2020 and the future looks bright in the short term.
Microsoft will work to bring all upcoming titles from new studios to Xbox Game Pass on Day 1 on Xbox consoles and PCs.
