OPPO A72 Complete Review

Review of the smartphone OPPO A72 – a stand-alone budget with stereo sound

OPPO has provided us with a new budget smartphone A72, which is equipped with a large screen, a good battery, stereo speakers, and an advanced camera. It is worth understanding what are the pros and cons of this model and whether it should be considered as an option to buy. Here below we have done a detailed review of the Oppo A72 smartphone.

OPPO A72 Features and Specs

  • Display: IPS, Full HD +, 2400 x 1080, 480 nits, 6.5 inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 665
  • Battery: 5000 mAh, fast charging 18W
  • Chips: Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, stereo sound
  • Memory: 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal
  • Main camera: 48 MP + 8 MP (ultra wide) + 2 MP (macro) + 2 MP (depth sensor)
  • Front camera: 16 MP

We got a review of a white model with a nice gradient, and it is, in our opinion, the most beautiful. For fans of more rigorous design, there are also purple and black versions. The model is relatively light – the weight is 192 grams with a battery volume of 5000 mAh, the thickness is 8.9 millimeters.

Successful design solutions also include a front camera, which is located in the upper left corner of the display. The frame of the display does not record thin, but adequate, given the price of the model, with the lower frame traditionally larger. Because the matrix here is of the IPS type, the fingerprint scanner is built into the power button. The reading speed is very good, the stability of the operation as well.

OPPO A72 is equipped with an IPS display with Full HD + resolution and a brightness of 480 nits. The diagonal is 6.5 inches, and this is exactly the size of the display when the smartphone is not too big, but the screen is perfect for working with multimedia. The smartphone comes with a good protective film. There is support for the blue filter for viewing in low light, which reduces eye strain.

In general, the display is nice, the viewing angles are comforting, the brightness is sufficient. I liked that the front camera of the smartphone is located in the upper left corner of the display, because this is the placement that looks best from a design point of view and the camera does not distract when viewing multimedia content.

The model has a budget chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, which has recently become increasingly popular in affordable smartphones. It should be noted that the model is not positioned as a game, so do not expect any extraordinary performance in games.

Paired with the chipset is 4 GB of RAM LPDDR4X, which is enough for everyday tasks. I liked that the amount of internal memory is 128 GB, which is the best figure for a smartphone in 2020, and if this amount is not enough, it can be expanded with a microSD memory card.

Indicators of autonomy can clearly be attributed to the advantages of the smartphone, because it is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh, which will suffice for a full working day, even for very active users. With less active use, the smartphone can last longer, but about halfway through the second day will need recharging.

The model is equipped with a fast-charging power of 18W. This is not a record, but quite a sufficient figure for a budget smartphone in 2020. Given the amount of battery, the smartphone will live a day of active use, so charging should be mentioned only at bedtime, and in this case, speed does not matter.

The model is equipped with a main quad-camera, which includes a 48 MP main module, 8 MP ultra-wide, 2 MP macro, and a 2 MP depth sensor. There is also a 16 MP selfie camera. In general, the photo quality is competitive, the model shoots well on both the main camera and the front.

It is clear that the video here is the same as in other budget smartphones – it is not as good as a photo, compared to the flagship solutions, which can take good photos and videos. However, for most users, a smartphone camera will suffice.

OPPO A72 really managed to surprise with its stereo speakers, which can not be compared with the mono, which are installed in most competitors. The sound is clean, surround, and if you are a fan of watching movies or videos from YouTube without headphones, for example, in the kitchen, then this model will be really the best option. You should also pay attention to support for Hi-Res Audio and Dirac 2.0.

The smartphone also has a USB-C connector for connection and charging, a 3.5 mm minijack, as well as a combined slot for two SIM-cards and a microSD memory card, which is really convenient because you do not have to sacrifice anything. You should also pay attention to the presence of the NFC module, which allows you to make contactless payments via Google Pay.

The set includes headphones, which has recently become rare even in the flagships, not to mention the available models. There is also a good silicone case for the first time.

As per the Oppo A72 smartphone review, the phone offers a good set of chips, which are not present in most competing models – especially liked the autonomy and stereo dynamics, good photo quality, beautiful design with the optimal location of the front camera, NFC module, minijack and good eat flash memory.

The disadvantages include not the most powerful processor and not the fastest complete charge, but these parameters are enough for the average user. If the priority when choosing a smartphone is autonomy and good sound from the speaker’s OPPO A72 can clearly be called a very good option.
