OPPO team up with Chinese Audio Industry Association to create AQS Audio Quality Society
OPPO team up with the Chinese Audio Industry Association and leading audio corporations to establish the Audio Quality Society AQS. This collaboration is part of OPPO’s relentless efforts to improve sound for users in the 5G era. AQS will bring together device vendors and companies above and below the headset supply chain.
This will also include audio chip manufacturers and professional testing institutions. The AQS inaugural board included (in alphabetical order): Bestechnic, China Institute of Electronics Standardization (CESI), Edifier, HiBy, HiVi, HIFIMAN, Knowles, MediaTek, Savitch, Xiaomi, and Vivo. OPPO, as one of the founders and major technology providers at AQS, will be a permanent board member.
In the last few years, there has been a mismatch in the audio industry between Bluetooth audio transmission standards and audio codec formats. This led to a certain violation of the quality of sound transmission, the negative consequences of which were immediately felt by users.
AQS standards aim to remove the barriers created by wireless audio codecs and hardware. Thus, they provide compatibility and interoperability of headphones, audio equipment, and smartphones. The initiators of AQS expect that the new standards will improve the sound quality of gadgets and provide users with a better listening experience.
Liu Jia, head of OPPO’s audio business, notes that OPPO has laid a solid foundation for high-quality audio products with its high-definition MP3 players and DVD players. For excellent sound quality, they have been awarded numerous industry awards and have been included in many world rankings.

Technical standards aim to provide users with high definition and professional sound quality, so AQS will focus on six main areas. Thus, the standard of electroacoustic communication, which has passed 13 types of tests, will ensure the quality of voice calls thanks to a truly wireless stereo headphone (TWS).
The standard music sound effect will support LHDC (low-definition audio delay codec), as well as the precise configuration of subjective and objective audio evaluation to provide the best sound. In addition, AQS technical standards will set stricter requirements for reducing ambient noise and Bluetooth connectivity, which will allow users to enjoy the quality and clear sound without increasing the volume when transmitting with low latency.
Consider AQS and ensure better music listening. A recently developed UI-interactive test is designed to find the most intuitive interface for end-users and to establish a simple interaction between a person and a computer.
Given the three most common scenarios for using music, calls, and voice control, the energy testing system will provide reliability and easy user interaction in TWS headphones. AQS technical standards are designed to ensure reliability at all stages of the process: from receiving and processing the signal to decoding the sound and reproducing it through the speaker.
The implementation of these standards will result in immersive high-quality sound, available on several devices at once, which will ensure smoother use of mobile multimedia in the 5G era.
