Pakistan Likely To Play Group Matches of T20 World Cup 2021 in Kolkata
Due to security concerns, Pakistan may have to play all the matches of the group stage at a specific venue Kolkata in the T20 World Cup 2021 in India.
Last Saturday, the Indian government gave the green signal to the Pakistan cricket team and journalists to come to India for the T20 World Cup. The World Cup will be held in 9 venues in India in October-November.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that visas for other countries will be approved at the General Assembly meeting.
In the qualifying round of the mega event, 4 teams in 2 groups will face each other. Group A includes Sri Lanka, Ireland, Papua New Guinea, and Oman. Group B includes Bangladesh, Netherlands, Namibia, and Scotland.
In the main event, Pakistan will face Australia, West Indies, and New Zealand in Group 1 and India, South Africa, Afghanistan, and England in Group 2.
The best two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals. The final will be held on November 15.
The tournament may be held according to the Covid-19 protocol. However, it will be decided whether the spectators will be allowed in the gallery after understanding the situation in the vicinity of the tournament.
