SK Hynix Acquires Intel Memory and NAND Storage Business for $ 9 Billion
South Korean SK Hynix, one of the world’s largest manufacturers and suppliers of NAND flash memory, continues to expand as SK Hynix Acquires Intel Memory and NAND Storage business. The deal will cost SK Hynix a total of $9 billion and is expected to be concluded by March 2025.
The acquisition will help SK Hynix improve its portfolio in the storage solutions market, which includes enterprise SSDs. SK Hynix will first take control of Intel’s NAND SSD business (including intellectual property and employees associated with NAND SSDs), as well as Dalian’s facilities in China.
Later, SK Hynix will acquire the remaining assets, which include the intellectual property related to the manufacture and design of the NAND flash wafers, the R&D (research and development) employees, and the workforce of the Dalian plant. . What is not included in this deal is Intel’s Optane business, which will remain with Intel.
