Sony announced new console PlayStation Indies

The Japanese giant Sony has just announced its new console Playstation Indies the latest initiative addressed to fans of independent games. For starters, PlayStation Indies will propose 9 completely new “turkeys” that will go to both current and next-generation consoles.

The project announced using the official PlayStation blog, Shuhei Yoshida, who will also be responsible for bringing Sony’s new ideas to life.

A whole new direction

Sony is not known for introducing too many significant news in its consoles. The PlayStation Indies program will expand the offer of the Japanese giant and will be a reference to many projects of the competitive console, Xbox, which in its offer has many subscription systems offering various productions.

“We are very hopeful that, thanks to PlayStation Indies, we will distinguish and support the best independent games published just for PlayStation and the turkey community itself. Our goal is to make PlayStation the perfect place to develop, find and play great indie games, “wrote Yoshida on the blog.

According to Sony, the gaming market is changing. Game producers are less and less willing to create huge AAA productions and are heading towards the indie market. The popularity of this type of game has been confirmed by such titles as The Binding of Isaac, Spelunky, Undertale, To the Moon. Another argument for turning to the indie scene is the high price associated with top-shelf games.

What games can we expect?

Yoshida announced that nine completely new productions have been prepared for the start of the new project. The first of them will be recently presented the latest installment of Worms (Rumble), Haven (relaxing cooperative game), Carto (puzzle game), Recompile (platformer), Where the Heart Is (narrative adventure game), Maquette, FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch, Heavenly Bodies, and Creaks.
