Sourav Ganguly was not suitable for the T20 format
Sourav Ganguly is one of the best captains in the history of Indian cricket. Under Test or ODI, Team India has achieved unprecedented success in both the editions under him. But Sourav Ganguly was not suitable for the T20 format. John Buchanan made such an explosive comment.
The former Australia coach was in charge of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first two seasons of the IPL. When KKR failed twice, the news of captain Sourav’s clash with the coach spread in the cricket world.
KKR played in the 1st and 2nd editions under the leadership of Sourav. In the first season, Kolkata Knight Riders finished the tournament from 6th place in the points list. The picture of the next event in Kolkata is grimmer. Coach John Buchanan came up with the ‘multiple captaincy’ theory.
Along with Sourav, Kolkata played that year under the leadership of Brendon McCallum. KKR Seba finished IPL from the end of all. In the next session, however, Buchanan was cut off.
