The Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian team is set to play the first match of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka today. Dhawan, who has been announced as captain throughout the series, has high expectations among fans of how he is going to play.

In this situation, left-arm opener Dhawan has a chance to break Saurav Ganguly’s big record in this first match.  It is said that he will cross that milestone in today’s match. He is also looking forward to recording his first success as captain today.

Dhawan, who made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2010 and has played 142 ODIs so far, has amassed 5977 runs. If he scores another 23 runs in today’s match, he will become the 10th Indian batsman to score 6,000 runs in ODIs. He also became the fourth player to score 6,000 runs.

Hashim Amla is the fastest international to score 6000 runs in 123 innings, followed by Virat Kohli in 136 innings and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson in third place with 6000 runs in 139 innings. Today, Dhawan became the fourth player to score 6,000 runs in 140 innings at 23 runs. Saurav Ganguly is the fastest left-hander to score 6,000 runs in 147 innings for India.
