Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Visit Shangri-La

Occasionally, a person needs to get out of their comfort zone, leave behind all work stress, and just travel. Shangri-La is one of those places that offer you peace of mind, relaxation, and different cultures. Here are the Top 5 Reasons to Visit Shangri-La.

Traveling is something everyone should be involved in. It’s relaxing, it’s stress-free, it gives you an idea of other cultures around the world, and you can do whatever you want. To truly experience a moment of relaxation and a different culture, you should consider visiting Shangri-La.

Since it is located in the northwestern part of Yunnan Province in China, you could say that this place is quite exotic and unique. Some of the things you’ll experience here will be things you never thought about doing in your life. So, if you want to mark some things on your wish list, Shangri-La is the place for you.

Assuming you’re interested in Shangri-La, you’ll probably want to know about all the good things you can experience there. To help you make the final decision, here are some of the reasons you should visit at least once in your life.

Top 5 Reasons Why to Visit Shangri-La

  1. Movie-like landscapes

One of the most surprising things about Yunnan Province is that it doesn’t seem to belong in this world. Once you get there, you’ll feel like you’re in a sci-fi movie and not in a real place on this planet. What is even more interesting is the Pudacuo National Park.

You might think that this national park is about the natural side of Yunnan Province, but it is a little different from what you would expect. Part of this national park is Ganden Sumtselling Monastery.

This Tibetan Buddhist monastery has more than 200 houses with capacity for at least 700 monks at a time. This monastery is believed to be one of the most important in all of China or at least in southwest China.

The reason I have to mention this is because all the architecture of these buildings flows very well into nature. It looks like the monastery is part of the landscape.

Next to this small town full of monks, you will also find the Three Parallel Rivers of the Yunnan Protected Areas. The combination of rivers, the monastery, and the beautiful green background creates an incredible landscape that you will remember throughout your life.

  1. Good weather

Before delving into Shangri-La’s climate, I should mention that it is 3000 meters or more than 10,000 feet above sea level. People who do not like to travel through mountain climates, I do not recommend exactly this place because it can get quite cold even in the hottest summer months. The average temperature during the summer is about 14oC.

Yes, it is cold, but due to the great elevation, it is actually quite pleasant because the sun shines constantly and is not hidden by the clouds. The air may be cold, but most of the time, you’ll feel warm from the sun’s rays. The best time to visit Shangri-La should be between April and the end of June, as this website suggests.

  1. Unique culture

One of the main reasons everyone should visit China at least once is because this place is simply full of culture. Today, there are almost 1.4 billion people in this country. It may be even more because the last research was conducted in 2018.

If I were to unite the people of Europe, the United States, and Canada, it still wouldn’t be close to that $1.4 billion. Now that we’ve put this number into perspective, you can understand that only many of them are there.

As they are such a large population, it is natural that different parts of the country have developed different cultural standards. For example, if you went to the far southeast of China and then traveled to the northwestern part, you would feel that you are in a different country.

The people you met on one side will be completely different than you met on the other side. It is vital that you understand how important the impact of culture is on your lifestyles.

Yunnan Province is located in the most southwestern location in the country. The people in this province are so far away from big cities like Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Wuhan; it is as if they live a completely different kind of life. So, if you want to experience something unique and if you want to connect with a different culture, Shangri-La is the place to visit.

  1. Not that expensive

Many people around the world avoid traveling to exotic places because they think it is expensive and too risky. This is simply not true. Traveling to exotic places like Shangri-La can be one of the cheapest trips you can make.

Visiting cities like Paris or London is probably three or four times more expensive. What you can experience in a place like this, you’ll never be able to experience it in a normal city.

Finding a place to stay is quite easy because most people in Shangri-La will be happy to accept you at home. Some may even let you sleep for free in their homes. They love tourists and also love to teach about their culture and language.

  1. Great hiking spots

Assuming you are the person who enjoys strolling through nature, Yunnan Province is one of the best places to do so. Even if you’re not so interested in hiking, you’ll start to love hiking once you see the beautiful mountain tops and landscapes you can travel through.

Admiring the beautiful animals through the woods, the limestone terraces, or the huge canyon called Tiger Jumping Gorge is something you will never forget.

I agree that traveling to a place you’ve never heard of seems like a risky idea, but if you’re educated enough about Shangri-La, I’m 100% sure you’ll increase your interest in visiting this place at least once. Life.
