What is your Body Type?
A first step that can guide us or help us in choosing the dress is the type of body we have, we will mention the most frequent, which takes into account the proportion of shoulders, waist, and hips.
Although we must bear in mind that they are indicative and we do not have to classify ourselves in a specific category, each person is different, and therefore each body is different.
Hourglass: This shape is characterized by a similar shoulder-to-hip ratio and a narrower waist. That is, from top to bottom it will be wide, narrow, and wide.
Rectangle: In this case we see how both shoulders, waist, and hips show the same amplitude, almost forming a straight line.
Pear: On this occasion, the widest area is that of the hips, it is the part of the silhouette that stands out the most in contrast to the breadth of the shoulders and the waist that are narrower.
Inverted triangle: This body type resembles the inverted shape of a triangle, presenting the opposite proposition to the pear-shaped silhouette. In this case, we will observe broader shoulders, more prominent concerning the waist and hips.
Oval or apple: This body model is similar to the rectangular, that is, it shows a similar proportion of shoulders, waist, and hips, but in this case, the hip does appear a little curved, it is not completely straight, hence the name oval.
Types of Wedding Dresses You Are Looking For

One of the critical decisions or choices is how the bride will be dressed, which dress will be ideal to capture all eyes when she walks down the aisle before reaching the altar, and which one will be the right one.
This complicated choice is usually made together with other close people such as friends or family who give you their opinion, but the final decision must be made by you since it will be you who will wear it and therefore who should like it.
There are different variables that we can consider such as the fabric we want, how much volume we want, how tight we want it to be or you can even choose different colors.
Now that we know the general classification of the different body types that exist, we will present what dress options there are. We will mention the main characteristics of each one, also referring to the body figure that each dress favors the most.
As we have already said, each body is different and the one who should feel comfortable wearing the dress is the bride, regardless of the opinions or recommendations according to her silhouette.
1. Mermaid Style
The mermaid or trumpet style dress is characteristic point it opens to reveal the appearance of a mermaid’s tail. To make it easier for the bride to walk better and be more comfortable, an opening can be made in the widest part of the dress, allowing greater mobility.
This dress especially favors silhouettes with a large back and small hips, since it marks the hips, thus compensating for the difference.
In the same way, being so tight, it allows you to put a skirt on top in case you want to wear a double dress for the ceremony and the invitation.
2. Ball Gown Style
The princess-type wedding dress, also called Cinderella or ball gown, as its name indicates, is the one that we see fairytale princesses wear.
It is characterized by being tight to the waist and opening in a large skirt, this being the style with the most voluminous skirt.
This wide shape at the top allows you to hide the hips and is a good choice if you want this part of your body to go unnoticed and highlight your waist.
We can also choose to add a tail that will be the final touch to make it look even more like a princess. The chosen fabric can be a single fabric with a great body, that is, it can have volume, or it can combine different fabrics to give the feeling of pomposity.
3. A-line Style
The A-line style wedding dress will be fitted to the waist, beginning to gradually open up, creating a triangular silhouette reminiscent of the shape of the letter A, hence its name.
This type of dress is similar to the princess one since it is fitted to the waist, but unlike the previous one, the increase in volume is not so exaggerated, increasing more gradually.
This style is one of the most chosen since it favors all body types, adapting well to different silhouettes and giving rise to an elegant figure.
4. Empire Style
The name empire style dress was established about the first French empire since the wife of the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte made this type of dress fashionable in the 19th century.
The empire-cut silhouette is reminiscent of the Greek and Roman style, adjusting at the chest and falling loosely to the floor, for this reason, it provides great comfort without being too tight.
Being tight on the chest and loose in the rest of the silhouette, it allows highlighting and marking the upper part of the body, it is also perfect to stylize the figure and appear taller thanks to its straight shape, creating a simple but very elegant figure.
5. Tube Style
The tube-type dress style is characterized by showing a vertical fall without marking any particular area, but at the same time it does not allow any part of the body to be hidden, that is, it fits well into the silhouette, due to its elongated shape it also helps to give a feeling of more height.
Although it can be worn by other types of bodies, it especially favors those with a rectangular shape that refers, as we already mentioned, to a similar proportion of men, waist, and hips, straight silhouette.
6. Halter Style
This style of dress has as its defining and remarkable characteristic the type of neck, which gives its name to the style of dress, it stands out for being adjusted to the neck, leaving the shoulders and back uncovered.
The type of fabric selected can be lace, differing from the fabric of the dress and allowing transparencies, or the same fabric of the dress that floats up to the neck. The lower part of the dress can be different by opting for one of the cuts already mentioned above.
7. Pantsuit Style
The suit chosen for your wedding does not have to be a dress, there is also the option of wearing pants and breaking with tradition, achieving the look you want in the same way. In this way, we can play with the fabric, the cut, or the figure of the suit, if we want the pants to be more or less tight, if we want the shoulders uncovered, whether it is a suit jacket or one piece. It also allows us to adapt it to our taste by opting for a more groundbreaking style.
8. Hip Cut Style
The hip-cut dress, as its name indicates, is fitted to the hip, the point at which it begins to open up and loosen.
Thus, it is an intermediate style between those already mentioned, the princess style that is girded until reaching the waist, and the mermaid style that is adjusted approximately to the height of the knees.
This type of dress especially favors tall people, since this cut tends to lengthen the upper part of the body and shorten the lower part, giving the sensation of shorter legs.
9. Short Style
In the same way that it happens with the pants style, this type of dress is not very common either. It can be a good choice if we want to show off our legs, be more comfortable, and spend less heat without losing elegance.
