The Realme X7 Pro is a mid-range smartphone with a new and powerful processor from MediaTek. Realme has combined all the good solutions of yesteryear by adding an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The new line of smartphones from Realme has reached a new level of quality and capabilities. The main competitors of the new X7 Pro will be the Vivo V20 Pro, OnePlus Nord, and Google Pixel 4a.
Realme X7 Pro Full Review: Detailed Comparison
What’s in the box?
Realme did not skimp on the X7 Pro 5G package, adding everything you need. In addition to a smartphone with a protective film installed, the kit includes:
- USB-A to USB-C cable
- 65W SuperDart charger
- Type-C to 3.5mm headphone adapter
- SIM eject tool and documentation.
Realme X7 Pro: Design and Appearance
In terms of looks, the Realme X7 Pro is very similar to the 7 Pro, which isn’t too bad. The smartphone looks attractive and is lighter in size, thinner than most other models.
In the upper left corner of the screen is a tiny hole for the front camera. The module with the main sensors protrudes slightly above the back surface, and the display is covered with Gorilla Glass 5. The side frames are made of polycarbonate, the back cover is made of smooth glass.
Among the colors we have are: black, white, and multicolor. The first is a set of different blue-violet shades with an anti-reflective coating. The second is calmer and less striking. When the third, the most colorful and brightest.
Unfortunately, there is no memory card slot or headphone jack. The power and volume keys are positioned at a comfortable height for your fingers. The fingerprint scanner is located under the screen – it works quickly. Unlocking can also be done on the face. The X7 Pro has stereo speakers, one in the front and one in the back, which creates a nice stereo effect.
In general, the Realme X7 Pro is a comfortable smartphone to use. It may not have a premium design like the Oppo Reno 5 Pro, but it’s still one of the most attractive gadgets in its price segment.
Realme X7 Pro: Display
In the X7 Pro, Realme has installed an AMOLED display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz. Users can choose between 120Hz, 60Hz, and Auto mode – the frequency will switch between 60Hz and 120Hz, depending on the content, to save energy.
The screen brightness of the Realme X7 Pro reaches high values - 1200 nits, according to the manufacturer. It will not be possible to select a color profile, but we have a temperature slider that will allow us to make the shades warmer. There is no support for wide-gamut color spaces, but the average user is unlikely to notice it.
The new X7 Pro has received DRM L1 certification, which means the phone can play HD content from Netflix and other similar streaming services.
Realme X7 Pro Review: Cameras Quality
The Realme X7 Pro has a fairly standard set of cameras on the back. Among them: 64MP main lens Sony IMX686, ultra-wide-angle at 8MP, 2MP macro lens, and a depth sensor for portrait shots also at 2MP. Front camera resolution – 32 MP.
Photos retain high detail and natural tones in bright light. This is noticeable even in photos with complex objects such as flowers or trees. Not all mid-range smartphones manage to capture textures well with as many details as the X7 Pro.
Of course, in the dark, the quality is greatly reduced, although here the Realme smartphone does its job better than most competitors. While the Xiaomi Mi 10i, with its 108MP sensor, manages to capture more light, in dark conditions, the automatic photos from the X7 Pro’s cameras look very pleasing.
The night mode is great here. It does a great job with exposure, so even in the brightest or darkest areas, all objects will remain easily distinguishable. In this mode, we even have additional settings that allow us to increase the detail under certain conditions. However, for a noticeable quality improvement, you will need a tripod when objects in the frame need to be stationary.
The ultra-wide-angle camera noticeably increases the angle of view, although you should not expect too good results from it. Especially if the lighting is far from ideal.
Skin tones in portrait mode look natural, although it is better to turn off the appearance enhancement-mode using AI (artificial intelligence). If the background is too light, the border detection may not work well. All this also applies to the front camera.
The Realme X7 Pro 5G cameras are capable of capturing 4K video at frame rates up to 60 fps. The recording quality is average, it roughly corresponds to other mid-range models.
Overall, with the right lighting, the X7 Pro is capable of capturing excellent photos. The quality in dark conditions is not good enough, although “Night mode” partially solves this problem. However, if cameras are your most important thing in smartphones, there is a better Google Pixel 4a in this price segment.

Software & OS
The operating system Realme X7 Pro uses Android 10, on top of which the Realme UI v1. The choice is a bit strange because this model would be much more suitable for the version of Realme UI 2.0 with Android 11. Apparently, updates are just around the corner.
Be that as it may, the interface is quite pleasant, it retains several convenient features of the pure Android system. Unnecessary or advertising notifications hardly appear, and there are not so many unnecessary applications (they are easy to remove). In general, this is the familiar Realme UI v1.
Realme X7 Pro: Smartphone Performance
The performance of mid-range smartphones has increased markedly in recent years. Realme X7 Pro became the second device after Oppo Reno 5 Pro, powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor. The chipset is assisted by 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and 128GB of fast UFS 2.1 internal storage.
The performance of the X7 Pro is one of the greatest strengths of a smartphone. Even with maximum graphics settings in Call of Duty, the frame rate is very high. Other card games are just as good.
The power of the gadget is also confirmed by performance tests. On Geekbench 5, my X7 Pro scored 770 and 3014 points in single-core and multi-core modes. The 3D Mark Wildlife graphics test gave a result of 3800 points. These are excellent indicators for the middle price segment.
Realme X7 Pro 5G stereo speakers have a very high volume, which is convenient when watching videos. The device supports Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res technologies, so the sound quality here is pleasantly impressive.
We get a USB Type-C to 3.5 mm adapter bundled with the smartphone, and even if you have cable headphones, there shouldn’t be any problems. As for the wireless audio transmission, the X7 Pro has Bluetooth 5.0 with support for SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC codecs.
Realme X7 Pro Review: Autonomy & Fast Charging
The X7 Pro has a 4500mAh battery. With the included 65W SuperDart charger, you can recover from 0-100% energy in just 35-40 minutes. Even a 5-minute charge can give you one hour of continuous video playback.
With a constant refresh rate of 120 Hz, the smartphone will last 6-7 hours on screen, which is a little over one day, but there are some software options for power saving. These include optimizing standby or sleep mode, saving energy, and optimizing battery life. All of these functions can be enabled in the settings menu.
Realme has also implemented a variety of protection measures to keep the battery from overheating or any other damage when a huge amount of power is supplied while charging. With moderate use, with the screen set to 60Hz, you can easily get 1.5 days of full use.
The Realme X7 Pro smartphone looks attractive and is easy to use. We get a high-quality AMOLED display with a high refresh rate, powerful hardware, and fantastically fast 65W charging. Of the minuses, I will only note the absence of a headphone jack and a memory card slot.
Should You buy?
Yes! In the middle price segment, the Realme X7 Pro is one of the most successful smartphones to buy in 2021. But if you’re willing to spend a little more, consider buying the Oppo Reno 5 Pro, which has a more attractive design, or the Google Pixel 4a, which has an incredibly good camera.
